My happy place.

I feel like I should say the ocean. Because I feel at peace there. But only when no one else is around. (Of course it has to have conditions .)
But to be honest, my happy place is whenever I am surrounded by beauty. I have a very wise friend who, after a long discussion about how frustrated I was by something, pointed out that I loved to be surrounded by beauty - and this situation was not beautiful.
So now I know that whenever I am unhappy with something, I need to go back to the beautiful.
And for me, "beautiful" does not have to be the ocean. It can be at home with my artwork. At lunch with an amazing friend. Having a glass of wine on a rooftop in Santa Fe. Looking at a blooming rose on a midday walk. Going to an art exhibit and noticing two colors that I should put in my next project. Writing down a quote from the morning news that made an impact. Watching my husband make people laugh with his accents (only after he has tequila).
I guess that's why I am happy with what I do - helping others surround themselves with their version of beautiful.
